We are working with a global Software, Systems & Engineering company in the Defence Sector, supporting them with appointing a Senior Radar Engineer who will lead their Test, Trials, Training and Evaluation teams at their site in Chichester, West Sussex.
In this role you’ll lead the radar signature measurement trials which improve platform protection against radar threats through signature management and the use of radar counter measures.
The role requires an engineer with excellent radar and DSP technical expertise to support the maintenance and the development of the service and capability.
Salary: up to £59k per annum
Location: Chichester – 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities:
1. Deploy as a member of the trial delivery team. This may include deploying on-board the RN platform being measured and operating the carry on-board equipment.
2. Trials team leadership of the measurement team where required.
3. Support trial planning activities (technical, safety, security, logistics).
4. Comply with all Health and Safety and Environmental requirements at a particular trials site by working in accordance with the Trials Risk Assessment, the Site Health, Safety and Environmental Plan, and the Site Security Plan.
5. Provide technical expertise input to investment and customer projects.
6. Support the delivery into service of the new RCS measurement and analysis capability.
7. Participate in the effective and efficient operation of the RCS facility, proactively working to implement process improvements when identified.
8. Support facility engineering teams in maintaining/developing systems and equipment.
Essential Education, Qualifications and Training:
1. Physics, engineering or mathematics background to degree level.
2. Good written, oral and communication skills.
3. Relevant industry experience (>5 years).
4. Radar systems (general, front-end RF/MW sub-systems, antennas).
5. Physics (electromagnetism).
6. Digital Signal Processing.
7. Radar Cross Section (RCS).
8. RF test and measurement.
9. IT skills including use of word processors, spreadsheets and databases.
10. Full driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:
1. Detailed RCS Experience in modelling, measurements, Hi-resolution imaging, instrumentation radars.
2. History of working in military environments.
3. Experience using radio communications.
4. H&S qualifications and experience.
5. Data science.
6. Use of MATLAB.
