Trainee Project Manager
The Role
As a Trainee Project Manager, you will support the delivery of multiple new connection utility projects within the specified region. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers, the Regional Manager, and the construction support team to ensure projects are carried out safely, on time, and within budget. This role will provide you with hands-on experience and mentorship to develop your skills in project management, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibilities as you progress.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist Project Managers in planning and scheduling onsite and offsite works.
2. Support the ordering of materials and equipment, ensuring they meet project specifications and designs.
3. Help forecast resource requirements and assist in coordinating project resources with guidance from senior team members.
4. Promote and uphold a strong culture of Health, Safety, and Quality on all projects.
5. Learn to prepare project-specific RAMS and assist in communicating them to the team.
6. Participate in financial tracking of projects, including understanding cost variations and invoicing processes.
7. Attend client meetings, including pre-start and progress discussions, to learn about project timescales, costs, and resources.
8. Assist with the preparation of project records and reports, such as status updates, financial summaries, and project plans.
9. Support the project closure process by assisting in reconciling activities and costs.
Requirements for the Trainee Project Manager:
1. Full UK driving licence and willing to travel across the South West.
2. Some experience or exposure to the utility, construction, or similar sectors (LV Cable Jointer, Jointer's Mate or NCO 1 Gas or Water Assistant would be ideal).
3. Strong organisational and time management skills.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
5. Proficiency with IT tools, including Microsoft Office.
6. A willingness to learn and develop skills in project management.
7. Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
Perks & Commitments:
1. Starting salary ranging between £28,000-£34,000 per annum.
2. Full Time, Permanent role.
3. Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 17:00 pm (40 hours per week).
4. 25 days holiday + bank holidays as standard.
5. Up to 3 extra days holiday for long service – 2 years +1, 5 years +1, 10 years +1.
6. Option to purchase an additional 5 days holiday per year.
7. 5% employer pension contribution.
8. 2x Death in Service Cover.
9. Cycle to work scheme.
10. Private health cover, half paid for by us, and fully paid after 3 years.
