Job summary Perform unsupervised work including activities that may be demanding and/or non-routine. Responsible for testing, maintenance and fault finding on all engineering plant, equipment and services including but not limited to; Steam distribution and condensate recovery Steam to water low pressure heating and hot water and catering plant Water storage, pumping and pressure boosting Ventilation and air conditioning Vacuum and compressed air plants Automated water treatment plant Firefighting installations Computerised building management controls Patient handling equipment such as beds, hoists, wheelchairs, etc. Hydrotherapy pool Work under own initiative in order to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and capital work across the trust as directed, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. To undertake training for new practices, procedures and equipment. To undertake on-call duties if required as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergencies occurring outside normal hours are attended to. Main duties of the job To undertake all work activities as requested by the Mechanical Supervisor/Estates Officer. To work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times. To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes. To carry out engineering surveys and compile data, as and when instructed by line managers. To liaise with the Mechanical Supervisor regarding plant or equipment failures, or deviations to regulations, and to request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary. Undertake fault finding on complex, heating, hot water, cold water systems, HVAC or other critical systems and equipment. Using cause and effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution. To carry out commissioning testing of new equipment and services, routine testing of existing assets and general inspections when required, all in accordance with British Standards, Health Technical Memoranda, manufacturer's instructions and other national Codes of Practice.
