This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
A 13-year-old young man is searching for a Direct Payment Worker to support him in accessing activities in the community and promote independence at home in the Beverley area for 8 hours per week during term time and 16 hours per week during school holidays. Times and days to be agreed as suitable to everyone.
This young man is described by those who know him as well-mannered, inquisitive and clever. His favourite activities include gaming, making and creating things, tabletop gaming, building amazing models with Lego, learning new facts or sharing facts about his special interests, and sometimes watching ice hockey.
An understanding of Autism, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Differences is essential in supporting this young man. He recognises places that can make him feel dysregulated and requires time within activities to calm down on his own alongside a trusted and safe adult.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centred approach is more important.

A genuine occupational requirement for a male worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
