This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference by supporting the delivery of effective health and safety strategies across all of our sites.
About the Role: Working closely within a team of Health and Safety professionals, you will help support our managers and staff in ensuring that our operations and functional activities comply with our internal assurance arrangements, policies and procedures that are designed to help deliver compliance with our health and safety duties.
Main duties of the job
Working with the Health and Safety Lead, the post holder will be part of a team who are required to ensure compliance with statutory legislation.
Main Duties:
1. Health and Safety Auditing, Inspections and Investigations
2. RIDDOR reporting and investigations
3. Delivering health and safety training
4. Compiling reports and recommendations
5. Provide support and advice and guidance on a range of health and safety topics
Requirements
Ideally you should hold a General H&S Certificate (IOSH / BSC) and be working towards your Level 5 health and safety qualification. Previous experience in undertaking health and safety activities is desirable. You should be self-motivated and able to work independently and prioritise assigned tasks effectively. You should also possess strong communication and teamworking skills.
Desirable: While experience in working in the NHS or a healthcare setting is desirable it is not essential.
As a team player, you’ll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a team-focused approach.

Person specification
Training & Qualifications
* Qualified to Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience of health and safety preferably within an NHS setting.
* Qualified to Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
* Working towards level 5 health and safety qualification.
* Extensive up-to-date knowledge and practical application of health and safety management systems and the principles and practice of risk assessment processes.
* Experience in delivering and implementing health and safety training.
* Practical knowledge of incident investigation and RIDDOR processes.
* Experience of health and safety audit and inspection within a large organisation.
Planning and organisational skills
* Ability to negotiate and co-ordinate deadlines in a variety of teams to meet local, trust and national targets.
* Ability to analyse information, organisational processes and practices within the context of health and safety, recommending the best course of action for the Trust.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
