Senior Carer – Nights

We specialise in connecting skilled professionals with rewarding opportunities in the care sector. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Carer to work night shifts in a care home in Norwich.
Role Description
As a Senior Carer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of residents during the night. This includes overseeing care delivery, supporting junior staff, and ensuring high standards of care are consistently maintained. Your duties will encompass personal care, medication administration, monitoring residents’ safety, and maintaining accurate records, all while fostering a compassionate and respectful environment. You’ll work under the supervision of the registered manager and alongside the community nurses for this senior role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide personal care tailored to residents’ needs
2. Oversee medication administration and ensure compliance with care plans
3. Assist residents with mobility and positioning as required
4. Monitor residents’ safety and respond to emergency situations
5. Offer emotional support and companionship to residents
6. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided
7. Supervise and mentor junior staff members during shifts
8. Conduct handovers to ensure continuity of care
Requirements
1. Previous experience in a senior care role within a residential or nursing home setting
2. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred)
3. Knowledge of CQC standards and regulations
4. Strong leadership and communication skills
5. Empathy, patience, and a commitment to resident dignity
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills and Experience
1. Experience with medication administration and record-keeping
2. Confidence in supervising and mentoring staff
3. Familiarity with care planning and risk assessments
4. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
5. Strong organizational and time-management skills
Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent night shift position, with an average of 39 hours per week. Shifts typically run from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, on a rotational schedule. Flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the care home.
