Our team and role:
The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within our Clinical Education Department to join our driving team as a Driving Instructor.
The post will also require some evenings & weekend shifts to allow for training in the hours of darkness and out of normal business hours to accommodate shifts.
Main duties of the job
As the Driving Instructor, you will:
* Work as part of the clinical education training plan, liaising closely with the Driver Training Manager & Senior Education Managers with the Driving Standards Manager and Operational staff throughout the Trust.
* Deliver the accredited Driving Education portfolio, to include response driving courses and assessments, non-emergency driver training, and responder driving courses.
* Conduct all types of driving assessments across the organisation while continuing to develop yourself as a fully qualified Driving Instructor.
* Provide leadership to students and staff, supporting the management team and other Driving Educators, and be responsible for the provision of driver training on all vehicles within the Trust.
* Be responsible for the promotion, enhancement, and evaluation of long-term education and development needs in relation to driving, with references to Road Traffic Law, the Road Safety Act 2006, Accident Prevention, Audit, and the Corporate Governance agenda.

We are looking for someone:
This is a key role and offers an exciting opportunity for someone with enthusiasm and dedication to raising standards. You must be able to demonstrate a passion for driving with an associated standard of driving ability as well as a thorough knowledge of the Highway Code. Evidence of driving a range of vehicles would be desirable but not essential.
Please note: The interview and selection process will be rigorous and extensive due to the high-risk nature of the job responsibilities. You will be expected to have full working knowledge of the Highway Code, road craft, and exemptions/non-exemptions afforded for use to an emergency driver. Theoretical and practical examinations & assessments will form part of the interview, including commentary. All assessments and examinations are undertaken in accordance with the award body assessment criteria.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full UK Driving License including C1 Classification held for 3 years, maximum 3 penalty points.
* Future Qual Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving, held for at least 3 years with recent experience.
* Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievements or equivalent.
* Police Officers that hold an Emergency Response Driving Certificate or Police Advanced Driver certificate, minimum 3 years recent experience.
* Level 4 Future Qual Ambulance Driving Instructional qualification (deradi).
* Must be an ADI approved driving instructor.
* Level 4 Internal Quality Assessor Award.
* Level 5 Professional certificate in Education (DTTLS) or working towards.
* Department and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Registered FLEET Driver Trainer - or working towards.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Road Traffic Laws.
* Knowledge of the DVSA Highway Code.
* Knowledge of Exemptions of Road Traffic Laws for that of an Emergency Driver.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
* Knowledge of health and safety and risk assessment legislation.
* Knowledge of the Home Office PREVENT Training.
* Knowledge of policy on DTAG (Driver Training Advisory Group) Practices.
Experience
* Highly motivated and engaged in education and development of others.
