1A Frailty is a 12 bedded unit with additional nurse led same day emergency care capacity providing excellent care to our elderly patients. This is a fantastic opportunity for a band 2 health care assistant to join the team on 1A Frailty on the Royal site. There is availability for both full and part time rotational days and nights; previous experience is desirable, but not essential.

Band 2s will not be eligible for sponsorship as these roles will not meet the required skill level (RQF 3 or A level and above), despite having their salary increase from £22,383 to £23,615.

Assist patients in meeting their hygiene needs and carry out all aspects of personal care and grooming (to include emptying catheter bags).
1. Provision of patients toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
2. Support of patients in managing incontinence.
3. Measures patients fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts and reports information to Registered nurse.
4. Preparation and serving of patient’s meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting / feeding patients as necessary.
5. Assist patients in completing menu forms and liaise with the Catering Department with regard to the number of meals needed.
6. Reports patients dietary intake as indicated in the patients plan of care.
7. Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan.
8. Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances as directed by individual care plans.
9. Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
10. Obtaining specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
11. Escorting patients to clinical departments within the hospital.
12. Assist Registered Nurse in performing last offices.
13. General observations of patients, reporting anything untoward to Registered Nurse.
