Support Worker/Befriender for a young man aged 23 in Chester le Street area - Chester le Street - DH3
Support Worker/Befriender
Support Worker required to support a young man aged 23 years who lives in the Chester-le-Street area.
The young man has autism and significant communication challenges. He is a strong, healthy and active person and enjoys being out and about and taking part in physical activities, such as swimming, climbing, trampolining, gym, walking, cafes and cinema.
Hours / Wage:
£12.00 per hour. About 5 hours a week is required, Monday/Tuesday.
Duties:
We would like for the worker to take the young man out as a friend would, interacting with him and taking part in the activities, as he does. For example, swimming, climbing, trampolining, gym, walking, cafes and cinema.
Additional Requirements/Information:
A knowledge/experience of autism would be beneficial, but not essential, as we can find appropriate training. Someone who is willing to learn on the job; communicate with parents and take advice; use their own initiative when needed would be ideal. Driving license and car is a distinct advantage, but not essential, as the young man is used to and enjoys using local transport services. No care is needed in the home.
Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost.
