We are seeking to appoint two full time motivated and enthusiastic Principal Teachers to the Supporting Learners Service in the East of the region on a temporary basis for up to 23 months.
You will be required to manage a team of specialised teaching and non-teaching staff to support pupils with additional support needs in the locality and will have delegated responsibility for services in the area.
The post holder will work in partnership with schools and other professionals to improve the quality of supporting learners’ provision, mentor and lead on change and share knowledge and understanding of good practice in terms of learning and teaching. You must have experience of managing people and a professional knowledge of policy and practice relating to children and young people with Additional Support Needs.
These positions may be suitable for a Secondment, Line Management approval should be sought before applying for the position.
The postholder will be required to work in partnership with appropriate agencies and parents to support pupil needs.
Candidates must have extended teaching experience and be able to demonstrate experience of working with pupils with an additional support need.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
