Pay Range: $18.32/hr. - $22.90/hr.

The City of Fort Worth Water Utility is a fast-paced and rewarding department that is responsible for providing safe and reliable water to the citizens of Fort Worth. Our Management Service Division has a Security Guard job available in the Security and Emergency Management Section which is a 24/7 operation. This individual will conduct daily communications with contractors, utility staff, and the general public. The candidate should be responsible, dependable, and attentive to details.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in security, law enforcement or a related field
* A minimum of two (2) years of security or law enforcement experience.
* Valid Texas Driver’s License.
* Must pass Drug Screen & Physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience with utility security is a plus
* Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
The Security Guard job responsibilities include:
* Maintain the security operations at various plant facility locations
* Conduct routine inspections for violations of security regulations
* Provide escorts and other security services
* Create/utilize a variety of incident/inspection reports, records, and logs
* Assist other law enforcement agencies with arrests, or as needed
* Respond to intrusion alarms at offsite facilities and maintain security of meter vaults and lift stations
* Maintain a healthy and safe work environment at all times
* Provide information and intelligence
* Write reports and communicate data clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing to staff and upper management
* Handle emergency response situations related to security and incidents
* Ability to work overtime/call back hours during weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as needed
* Position is responsible for driving a City vehicle. Candidate must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions: Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demand: Medium Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
