About you
Do you have a passion for rehabilitation? Are you an RMN who is looking for a new opportunity or wishing to return back to practice? Are you interested in supporting staff to reach their potential? Do you want a combination between leading a ward, but also want to practice clinically? If this sounds like you, we would welcome your application to be considered as a ward manager here at Nelson House.
About us:
Nelson House is a modern and spacious 28 bedded Rehabilitation and Recovery mental health unit providing care for men of adult working age with mental illness. Located on the South Coast in Gosport, it is centrally located with access to Beaches and the New Forest. We have two wards, Trafalgar our High Dependency Ward and Victory which is a step down ward.
By having a focus on the development of skills for independence, the unit provides a positive step for patients, many whose next step will be living in the community. It helps patients learn new ways of managing their conditions and symptoms with the aim of helping to prevent any future relapse. For patients with challenging behaviours, Nelson House helps them to learn skills to change their response to anxiety and distress.
We have a full MDT, with Psychology and Occupational Therapy being a key driver within our unit.
The Ward Manager Role
We are looking for an RMN who has inpatient experience including leadership and management. The role is well supported by an established, professional and friendly MDT. You will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and be a role model to others to join our highly motivated and enthusiastic team.
As well as providing direct management supervision to two deputy ward managers, a significant part of this role is leading the team and managing the running of the wards.
You will be covering two wards, with the support of your deputies (one for each ward) and the Director of Clinical services.
You will be planning, overseeing and co-ordinating the quality and management of nursing care, patient care and the clinical environment, plus responsibility for staffing, rota management and ensuring the ward complies with statutory regulations, current legislation and meets quality standards.
You will also be required to participate in the on-call rota.
