Our Nuclear & Infrastructure division has extensive experience in the specialist, highly regulated nuclear, transport (road and rail), process industries and power and energy sectors. Providing award winning design teams, utilising state-of-the-art design software and Tekla detailing facilities to offer customers value engineering. This gives a mix of proven success along with modern, innovative design and fabrication ideas to be able to provide a quality, specialised service to a growing market. They continue to set the bar high in their highly regulated market!
In the Welding Engineer position, you will be supporting the Quality and Welding inspection team. Providing welding engineering expertise, supporting in the design and development of welding procedure specifications, and reviewing nuclear welding related documentation whilst adhering to safe working practices.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Performing Technical reviews of Nuclear welding related contract documentation.
* Ensuring compliance with client, statutory, legal and approval body requirements for all welding activities in the Nuclear sector.
* Acting as welding engineering subject matter expert to the design and manufacturing processes.
* Reviewing and accepting of all Nuclear welding related documentation procedures (WPS, WPQR’s, processing etc.)
* Designing and developing welding procedure specifications.
* Ensuring safe working practices in accordance with statutory and other requirements.
* Supporting quality & welding inspection team.
* Assessing suitability of sub-contractors for welding & cutting activities e.g. support supplier audits.
Key Skills & experience
Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Quality, you will be part of the quality team. You'll have comprehensive knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication particularly reading engineering drawings, welding specifications and standards.
You'll also:
* Minimum Engineering qualification (HNC / BEng / Msc) an International Welding Engineering Diploma (IWE) – or working towards and Lead auditor qualification - would be desirable but not essential.
* Liaise with client, design and project teams, approval bodies and suppliers.
* In depth knowledge and experience of welding standards and requirements (e.g. BS EN ISO 14731, ISO 3834, BS EN ISO 15614, BS EN ISO 9606).
* Comprehensive knowledge of welding & cutting processes.
* Nuclear manufacture experience working in line with client procedures.
