Job Description Summary
Responsible for designing, developing, and testing Embedded Software (Firmware), platforms, and systems that control and run on devices tailored to the needs of the hardware it controls (i.e., directly controlling the real-time functions of physical devices such as motors, alternators, engines, valves, fans, and other products). This role requires a deep understanding of the characteristics of the physical device being controlled, the real-time functions it is expected to perform, and the ability to design, develop, implement, and test the logic and software required to realize the real-time functionality. Typically tailored for products and services across various P&Ls, the role involves departmental operations planning/execution or focuses on executing professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities
* Architects, designs, and/or programs/develops a small module or a large component, feature, set of features, whole feature area, or entire embedded software product. Some areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, networks, operating systems, cybersecurity, databases, or applications. May be responsible for the creation of an entire product.
* Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy.
* Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
* Uses judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
* Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; develops skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
* This role requires advanced experience in Engineering/Technology & Embedded SW Development. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
