Job Description Salary: Competitive Location: Feltham, UK (near Heathrow) Contract: Permanent Closing Date: Friday 20th December 2024 Job Purpose The Workplace Drug Testing (WDT) laboratory predominately analyses samples for drugs of abuse. This role involves the handling human urine, saliva, and hair samples. It is a busy team in Heathrow in which short deadlines make the work quite hectic at times and speed and accuracy are most important. The Lab Technician is responsible for the day to day submissions in the lab and maintaining chain of custody whilst carrying out tasks around the lab to assist the analysts to complete analysis of samples. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Open samples we receive on a daily basis Log in samples through data entry onto our Laboratory Information Management System Maintain chain of custody Checking paperwork and sample integrity Sample storage management Sample disposal Scan and file documents and paperwork Keep accessioning area tidy Laboratory housekeeping and consumables replenishment Signing and sorting deliveries Witnessing (where required) Decapping and assisting aliquoting Pipette and balance calibrations Organising services of instruments and consumables Chasing and goods receipting orders Preparation of mobile phases and solutions Any other laboratory based task assigned (taking into account the individual’s professional experience/knowledge and skills). Any other administrative task assigned (taking into account the individual’s professional experience/knowledge and skills). Provide support to the team, for example assisting the administration team when required. Achieving key performance indicator targets (individually and as part of a team) Participate in Quality and Safety tasks Laboratory protection (safety glasses, lab coat and disposable gloves) must be worn at all times. In addition, all successful applicants will be required to undertake drug and alcohol testing prior to commencing employment.
