The department Our Risk & Compliance department plays a critical role in ensuring that we remain compliant with regulatory obligations whilst mitigating risks encouraged by a substantial law firm such as Taylor Walton. The department also focuses on key aspects such as data protection, conflicts of interest, anti-money laundering and client due diligence. About the role A perfect opportunity for a proactive, organised and analytical individual to be involved in all aspects of risk and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with all departments and be instrumental in ensuring that the Firm adheres to policy and maintains its compliance and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include: Responding to queries from lawyers and support staff on issues relating to client due diligence, know-your-client documentation and anti-money laundering. Undertaking anti-money laundering compliance monitoring to ensure that internal policies are being adhered to. Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager, in their capacity as Data Compliance Manager, in all areas relating to GDPR compliance. Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager in reviewing the Firm’s risk/AML/compliance related policies and procedures ensuring that they are kept up-to-date, in line with regulatory and legislative obligations. Assisting with the preparation of key documentary evidence required for the Firm’s annual Law Society Lexcel re-accreditation assessment. Deputise for the Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Data Compliance Manager in their absence. Other information Relevant compliance experience working within a regulated environment is essential e.g. experience in anti-moneylLaundering/know-your-client/client due-diligence/GDPR Experience in a law firm regulated by the SRA is a distinct advantage. Commitment to self-development and ensuring knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory updates is kept up-to-date. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written – with the ability to speak confidently with senior members of staff. Efficient and organised working practices – organised with the ability to ensure key deadlines are met. High level of initiative, a proactive nature and able to act with a measured sense of urgency. Analytical and problem-solving ability, able to analyse a variety of situations and provide recommendations on the best course of action. Sound and considered judgement when taking the initiative, applying reasoning and logic. Strong attention to detail. The role is based in Luton and may involve travelling to our offices in St Albans and Harpenden.
