Deputy Visitor Team Manager
Can you help make Manchester Museum a place where everyone feels they belong? We are looking for an experienced deputy manager to support the line management and leadership of a large team to deliver our mission and values and provide an exceptional welcome for our visitors.
Manchester Museum, part of the University of Manchester, is at an exciting stage in its 137-year history. Following a successful values-led redevelopment project, the Museum reopened to a huge fanfare in February 2023 and is a finalist in the European Museum of the Year Award 2025.
We’re also on a mission to become the most inclusive, imaginative, and caring museum you’ll ever visit, and the Deputy Visitor Team Manager is the perfect position to help make this happen by empowering your team to provide a warm welcome to lots of different people from Manchester and beyond, to hear their stories, and tell our own.
You will support with duty management, leadership of Visitor Team Coordinators, the Visitor Team and Communications Coordinator, and Visitor Team Assistants, and support the Visitor Team Manager with associated administrative tasks. You will also support the team’s wellbeing, training, and development and ensure staff are empowered to deliver exceptional visitor care.
You will play a key role in promoting our mission to build better understanding between cultures and a more sustainable world. You’ll also be driven by our values which are to be the most inclusive, caring, and imaginative museum our visitors might encounter.
Even if you haven’t worked within the museum sector, if you have experience of duty management, leading and managing a customer or visitor-facing team, and you care deeply about people and our environment, we want to hear from you.
