1. Role Purpose
The Site Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a small oil and gas extraction and processing site in Lincolnshire. The role includes monitoring production, operating and maintaining wells, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and responding to operational issues as they arise. The ideal candidate will have experience in oil and gas production operations, well control, mechanical or electrical maintenance, or industrial plant operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1. Well & Production Operations
* Operate and monitor oil and gas wells to ensure safe and optimal production.
* Perform well start-up, shut-in, and flow control procedures.
* Maintain well integrity through pressure control, chemical treatments, and routine well testing.
* Adjust process parameters to maximize production efficiency and prevent downtime.
* Monitor and operate production equipment, including separators, pumps, compressors, heaters, and pipelines.
* Assist in wireline, coiled tubing, or other well intervention activities.
2.2. Maintenance & Equipment Integrity
* Perform first-line maintenance on wells, production equipment, and safety systems.
* Conduct routine inspections and wellhead maintenance.
* Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical faults.
* Work alongside third-party contractors and service providers for maintenance and well interventions.
2.3. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance
* Ensure all operations comply with UK Oil & Gas Authority (OGA), Health & Safety Executive (HSE), and Environment Agency regulations.
* Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) and Isolation Procedures (LOTO, DSEAR, ATEX).
* Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety drills.
* Identify and report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
* Follow environmental protection guidelines for emissions control, waste disposal, and spill prevention.
2.4. Emergency Response & Incident Management
* Act as an Emergency Response Team (ERT) member, responding to alarms and site emergencies.
* Ensure well control measures are in place and respond effectively to well control incidents.
* Assist in fire-fighting, gas detection, and shutdown procedures when required.
* Maintain emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, gas detectors, safety showers) and ensure operational readiness.
2.5. Record-Keeping & Reporting
* Maintain accurate records for well pressures, flow rates, equipment performance, and maintenance logs.
* Conduct and document routine site and well inspections.
* Report any operational issues, production variances, or equipment failures to the Site Supervisor.
3. Qualifications & Experience
3.1. Essential Qualifications:
* IWCF (International Well Control Forum) Level 1 or 2 Certification (Essential for Well Operations).
* NVQ Level 3 in Process Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Valid UK driving license (site may require on-call response).
* First Aid and Fire Safety Training (or willingness to complete).
* Familiarity with DSEAR, ATEX, PUWER, and UK well integrity regulations.
3.2. Preferred Qualifications:
* NEBOSH or IOSH Safety Certificate.
* CompEx certification (for electrical roles).
* Higher IWCF or IADC Well Control certifications for enhanced competency.
3.3. Experience:
* 3+ years experience in oil & gas operations, wellsite operations, or hydrocarbon processing.
* Experience in well integrity management, production monitoring, and well intervention support.
* Knowledge of pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, flow control valves, and automated control systems.

✔ Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work effectively within a small team and liaise with supervisors and external contractors.
✔ Physical Fitness: Ability to work in outdoor environments, perform manual tasks, and respond to emergencies.
5. Working Conditions & Additional Information
* Shift-based work (including days, nights, and weekends).
* Work involves outdoor exposure to the elements, hazardous environments, and confined spaces.
* PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
* On-call duty may be required depending on site needs.
