Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our students with SEMH needs, assisting in their educational and emotional development, and promoting a positive learning atmosphere. This is an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and support young people to access education.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and tailored lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH issues.
* Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and improve their social skills.
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
* Foster positive relationships with students to build trust and confidence, encouraging them to express themselves.
* Help manage classroom behavior by employing effective strategies and promoting a calm and productive environment.
* Collaborate with other staff members, including teachers, therapists, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education.
* Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in supporting SEMH needs.
Qualifications And Skills
* Previous experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
* A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field is preferred (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
* A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
* Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for promoting emotional well-being.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the individual needs of students.
