Senior Physiotherapist – MSK Trauma Out-Patients (Fracture Clinic)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, 12 month fixed term position for a Band 7 Physiotherapist, or a Band 6 Physiotherapist seeking promotion, within Trauma and Orthopaedics Out-Patient services. This encompasses Virtual Fracture Clinics, Out-Patient Fracture Clinics and Physiotherapy Departments (across sites).
Band 7 staff are integral to staff and service development and must demonstrate a compassionate and empowering leadership approach.
You will be required to deliver a high standard of clinical care and be responsible for ensuring robust governance processes and safe systems of work. You will play an active role in supporting the MSK leadership team with departmental improvement projects and ensure Trust HR policies are locally adhered to.
Our team is supported by Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners who drive both service and staff development in line with national initiatives. We have close links to the local universities and we are striving to increase research opportunities within the MSK team. All our Band 7 staff have a named Band 8a supervisor and will be supported with training identified in annual appraisal and PDP.
Staff are required to work flexibly and to participate in a flexible working hours system Monday to Friday between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00.
Main duties of the job
To be an effective member of the Trauma Orthopaedic Out-Patient services by providing a high standard of clinical care within the Virtual Fracture Clinics, Out-Patient Fracture Clinics and Physiotherapy Departments (across sites).
The aim of the Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) is to manage the flow of patients in a timely way from attendance at the Emergency Department or Primary Care to Fracture Clinic (Right Clinician, right time frame). Following the VFC, there is a telephone clinic for all patients that do not need to attend for a face to face appointment. This telephone clinic will be one of the main roles within this secondment.
There will be allocated time within the Physiotherapy department for treating an acute case load and developing your rehabilitation skills for trauma patients.
To contribute to the training and supervision of the Physiotherapy staff within our team and the wider Therapies department.
To help maintain active links and effective communication between Trauma and Orthopaedics and the Physiotherapy departments, all sites.
Service development, audit, and research opportunities within out-patient Trauma and Orthopaedics.
There will be an opportunity to work as part of the MDT in all sub-speciality Out-Patient Fracture Clinics. There is also the opportunity to have exposure to speciality clinics such as 'Shoulder Instability', 'Achilles', 'Soft Tissue Knee' and to attend Trauma Theatres, Trauma Ward Rounds and Radiology departments.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* B.Sc. in Physiotherapy or Grad. Diploma in Physiotherapy
* Current registration with Health Professions Council
* Documented evidence of CPD
* Attended clinical supervisor's course
* Relevant introductory courses in management skills
Experience
* Extensive experience at Band 6 level in all musculoskeletal areas including outpatients, orthopaedic inpatients, rheumatology, acute trauma
* Experience in supervision and training of qualified staff, assistants and students
* Substantial clinical experience in the NHS UK or Health Service
* Involvement in audit and/or research
Knowledge
* Evidence of service development and implementing change
* Evidence of post-registration training in relevant up-to-date musculoskeletal related techniques
* Able to work well with others and pass on skills and knowledge
* Demonstrates an ability to respond effectively to complex, emotional or challenging situations
