Key Objective: To ensure meaningful, enjoyable, engaging, and stimulating activities are planned, organized, promoted, and implemented in the home for all residents in line with principles, policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines for relationship-centered care, clinical care, and dementia care.
The Lifestyle Lead will motivate, inspire, and mobilize team members in the home to be involved and engaged in the provision of stimulating activities within the residents' environment.
They will spend 80% of their time delivering vibrant activities to all the residents across all the units in the home.
They will provide information to report on the effectiveness of activities and regularly review, revise, and refresh the activities program for all residents.
They will engage with the community to develop effective relationships to ensure that there is a constant and varied program of activities in the home led by talented people. Work with the home team to promote the home with strong external links to the local community and charities.
Key Responsibilities
1. To plan, organize, promote, and implement a meaningful, enjoyable, engaging, and stimulating activities program based on relationship-centered care principles.
2. Motivate, inspire, and mobilize other care team members within the home.
3. Deliver 80% of their working time on vibrant and meaningful activities across all units of the home with targeted programs that meet the needs of the resident groups.
4. Lead on the design, development, and implementation of the home newsletter that reports on the home's events and activities of interest.
5. Ensure records relating to activities are accurate and up to date.
6. Plan regular reviews with each resident, in partnership with the care team members, next of kin, where appropriate.
7. Conduct regular reviews of all activities programs to measure and assess effectiveness.
8. Ensure events, activities, and achievements are communicated to the Head of Sales and Marketing.
9. Build strong and positive external links within the local community for the home.
10. Organize local charity events hosted within the home.
11. Ensure all regulatory and statutory requirements are met and company policies and procedures are adhered to.
12. Role model relationship-centered care within all team members.
13. Responsible for ensuring there is always sufficient equipment and resources available for the team.
14. Actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices.
15. Respond in a timely way to residents who are distressed or seek assistance.
16. Ensure the General Manager is informed of any incidents, issues, or concerns.
17. Work with care team members to ensure risk assessments have been carried out on all outings.
18. Ensure all H&S requirements are met and company policies are adhered to.
19. Ensure effective communication and preparation of the activity program to all interested parties.
20. Ensure that activities are planned within the home's budget and monitored.
21. Obtain regular feedback on lifestyle opportunities from residents and relatives.
22. Work with the Dementia Ambassador to promote meaningful activity and occupation.
23. Produce a home's newsletter, using Famileo where appropriate.
24. Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Education
1. NVQ HSC level 3 or QCF HSC award 3 (or higher).
Experience
1. Proven track record of organizing, coordinating, and motivating others.
2. Experience of organizing and scheduling programs of events or activities.
3. Experience of working and/or engaging with older people (both living with and without dementia).
4. Experience delivering high-quality relationship-centered care.
Skills/Knowledge
1. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and clinical skills.
2. Knowledge of and competence in core Microsoft Office applications.
3. Passionate and keen to develop new skills.
4. Listening skills.
5. Data management (for record keeping and review).
6. Ability to organize efficiently and prioritize workloads whilst under pressure.
