Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors. They are seeking a Senior Engineer to join them in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The engineering services they offer to their clients requires them to be able to deliver in an agile and future-facing environment. The following are examples of the type of responsibilities they seek: - Lead and contribute to the delivery of engineering projects, from inception to handover, to required budget and deadlines. - Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across UK and international teams to ensure successful delivery of projects. - Ensure the quality of project work meets the agreed standards and specifications. - Be client focused and able to develop good working relationships with clients; understand client needs and help propose best value technical solutions to meet project challenges. - Liaise with and support other multi-disciplinary teams, Project Managers and Directors across the wider UK home and international markets. - Act as a mentor to other team members. - Have a proactive commitment to Health and Safety and good knowledge of CDM requirements. - Lead and contribute to the application of digital engineering initiatives and innovative advances in water sector solutions. You will be part of a team within the Asset Planning and Solutions Practice leading and shaping the dialogue and policy within the UK and internationally in how green blue infrastructure is an integrated part of drainage, development, and master planning. The role would suit an Engineer with experience working with and/or designing SuDS who enjoys taking ownership of projects, delivering schemes and being responsible for guiding and developing more junior engineers. The type of projects you would have the opportunity to be involved in include: - Urban Realm Projects. - Active Travel Routes. - Drainage Design and SuDS for new developments. - Flooding Assessment of Existing Infrastructure and making recommendations for options for repair, replacement, or alternative measures. - Assessment of existing infrastructure and how to upgrade to adoptable/vestable standard. - Retrofit type schemes. - Drainage Impact Assessments for existing infrastructure.
Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity you must be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject area with experience in the water industry. Essential: - Previous consultancy experience. - Demonstrable experience within a Surface Water Management and drainage design / Water Engineering / Design environment. - Demonstrate technical experience within surface water management/drainage / Water Engineering / Design Environment. Ideally experience in one or more of the following areas. - Development Drainage - surface water and foul. - SuDS Design. - Highway Drainage. - Drainage modelling software (MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow). - Hydraulic modelling software (InfoWorks ICM). - Experience with design software relating to SWM, Civil and Water Engineering. - Experience of drainage design / SuDS and blue-green infrastructure design. - Experienced in quality assurance, ensuring services meet the required quality standards. - Possess a proven track record of working collaboratively in teams delivering projects. - Have excellent written and verbal skills when communicating with stakeholders including technical and non-technical parties are essential. Advantageous: - Good understanding of the other relevant legislation is advantageous. - Other software capabilities such as Civils3D or GIS software packages. - Knowledge of statutory consents, applications for connections / discharge consents, planning approvals and assessments. - Possess a full UK driving licence. - Chartered member of ICE or CIWEM or working towards chartership. - Up to date knowledge of current design codes and guidance documents If you posses 80% or more of the essential skills and competencies described, please apply.
