Job overview
This post is an ideal post for a candidate with an interest in Emergency Medicine or wishing to broaden their career following their Foundation training. Although it is not a formal training post, the successful candidate will be working alongside trainees in nationally recognized training positions, and receive the same support, supervision and access to teaching as them. In addition, we will provide an additional protected 4 hours per week CPD to pursue an interest of your choice. This is flexible, but may include Ultrasound, Simulation, Teaching, Frailty, Trauma, Anaesthetics or Paediatrics.
In addition, the candidates will be asked at interview if they would like to put themselves forward for the highly sought-after posts of Emergency Medicine with Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine, Clinical Research Fellow in EM and/or Sustainability Fellow in EM.
If the successful appointee has over four years post qualification experience, they will be appointed on specialty doctor 2021 terms and conditions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidates will work with a team of twenty six consultant emergency physicians and five permanent specialty doctors across Northumbria Healthcare Trust, as well as a large team of doctors in training at all levels. We also have a team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners who help deliver the minors service across all sites.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration
* ALS or equivalent (or at least a place on a recognized course prior to appointment start date – appointment would be subject to passing course)
* At least 24 months NHS/UK experience by August 2025 – You will not be shortlisted if you do not have this experience.
* The ability to independently manage the broad spectrum of emergency presentations
* ATLS
* APLS
* 6 months emergency medicine experience in the UK
* Publication/poster
Experience
* At least 12 months NHS/UK experience at F2/SHO level or above
* Other post registration acute clinical specialty experience in Emergency Medicine
