This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to step into a dynamic role that combines operational HR, recruitment, and employee relations. Due to a retirement in our team, we are seeking a dedicated professional to join us in January or February 2025 on a full-time, on-site basis at our facility in Bodmin, Cornwall. This role offers a 37.5-hour work week during standard office hours. However, as our bakery operates nearly 24/5, occasional flexibility in start and finish times may be required to connect with early or late shift colleagues. Your Responsibilities
As an HR Advisor, you’ll take the lead in several critical areas, including:
Recruitment & Onboarding:
* Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, from advertising roles to arranging interviews and organising recruitment days.
* Overseeing offers, start dates, and induction planning to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
* Managing references and right-to-work checks.
* Building relationships with colleges and representing the company at job fairs.
* Preparing recruitment data reports for tracking and decision-making.
Employee Relations:
* Taking the lead on employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, and capability processes. Our ER cases are mainly absence related.
* Providing expert advice and guidance to managers on HR policies and procedures.
* Supporting employees and managers in navigating the challenges of a high-turnover workforce while fostering a positive and engaged workplace culture.
HR Policy:
* Sending offers, contracts, and onboarding documentation.
* Collaborating with the HR Manager on updates to policies, procedures, contracts, and the employee handbook to align with employment law changes.
* Designing, communicating, and delivering training on new laws, policies, and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who brings:
* Strong experience in HR advisory or similar roles
* Strong experience recruiting high volumes of manufacturing candidates
* A solid understanding of employment law and best practices
* Confidence in managing a high volume of employee relations cases
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* A proactive, hands-on approach to challenges and opportunities
* The ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment, preferably in a manufacturing environment, balancing priorities
* IT proficient. We use SIGNABLE, Fastforms, Teamtailor ATS, Papaya LMS, Microsoft packages, Teams, and we are looking at implementing other new HR systems.
