To support the educational needs of hospital-based medical students from the Three Counties Medical School, based in Gloucestershire.
The Three Counties Medical School is a newly formed medical school based in Worcester, established in 2023. The innovative course is open to postgraduate entrants and is based on Problem Based Learning with early clinical exposure. The students will be on 4-week block clinical placements in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHSFT between March and August 2025. This post is to help support the Three Counties Medical Students whilst on placement in the Trust.
The role is for 1 WTE for 5 months - we will consider either one applicant or two applicants to share the role at 0.5 WTE each - please state clearly on your application which you would prefer.

Opportunities to become further involved in TCMS teaching and facilitation will be supported. Support may be available if the post-holder wishes to apply for applicable teaching qualifications.

Job responsibilities
This post offers the opportunity to be involved in the Medical Education of Medical Students from Three Counties Medical School (TCMS) whilst they are on clinical placement at GHNHSFT. The prime function of the post holder is as a facilitator delivering core content and providing bedside clinical teaching for medical students from Years 1 and 2 based on the Undergraduate Curriculum of Three Counties Medical School.
Teaching will take place in a variety of forms: small group tutorials, bedside clinical teaching, and clinical-based history and examination. The post holder will be expected to spend time developing teaching sessions in a variety of formats including e-learning materials. Contributions to the appraisal and examination (OSCEs) of students will be required.
This is a 5-month annualised hours post based on availability to provide supervision, education, and facilitation of students during their clinical placements at Gloucestershire Hospitals between March and August 2025. The post-holder must be available during these dates. The post-holder must hold full GMC registration for this post.
The post will be split between Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital and there will be opportunities to attend CPD sessions with Three Counties Clinical teaching fellows based at the medical school in Worcester and to also be involved in facilitating PBL sessions in Worcester if desired.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential
1. Medical qualification equivalent to MBChB/MBBS
2. Full GMC registration with full licence to practice
3. At least 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
4. Competence in history taking and examination skills
Desirable
1. Higher degree/intercalated degree.
2. Part 1 MRCP/MRCS or equivalent Educational qualification
Knowledge and experience
Essential
1. Experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate medical students
2. Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices
3. Excellent spoken and written English and communication skills
Desirable
1. Evidence of recent CME training
2. Evidence of reasonable training progression for stage of career
3. Experience in problem-based learning and facilitation skills
Skills and abilities
Essential
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Familiarity with NHS clinical practices and hospital systems
3. The ability to teach basic clinical skills such as taking a medical history and performing a systematic examination of patients
4. The ability to provide constructive and supportive feedback to students
