The Compliance Supervisor is responsible for supporting our client in leading the market with food safe and customer compliant operations as well as consistent and well-regarded product. The role needs to collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure customers’ specifications and audit standards are met for all produce delivered to customers, whilst maintaining authenticity and integrity to supply throughout the business.
The role requires great attention to detail and a diligent approach to food safety, compliance, and hygiene systems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Ensure compliance to audit and product specifications across supply chain (including Farming).
Develop and control a programme of internal audits against certification and customer standards, good manufacturing practice, hygiene and fabrication.
Control and manage non-conformities and corrective actions, ensuring root causes are addressed.
Support the Head of Technical in the management, creation & monitoring of technical projects.
Deputise for the Head of Technical in their absence.
Actively participate in the company HACCP team and other working groups as appropriate.
Support the Head of Technical in the development and management of Quality Systems documentation and policies.
Clear, respectful & regular communication to the business on technical risk in the supply chain and mitigations taken.
Challenge and maintain strong hygiene controls across the packhouse and wider business.
Supervising of a team focussed on ensuring audit and quality standards are met.
Assist in the recruitment of team members, subject to agreed criteria
Create, prepare & present KPIs & other reporting to agreed timescales
Behaviours and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a technical function in a fresh produce or fresh food environment.
The right candidate will support what is right in the eyes of the customer and be able to articulate and reason with the business with insight led recommendations.
The candidate needs to collaborate with other departments to establish best fit solutions to issues raised.
The candidate should be familiar with retail audit standards and have experience implementing continual improvement processes.
The candidate needs to have a “can do” attitude and able to work in a fast and sometimes pressured environment. They must be responsive and a great communicator.
Formal qualifications related to auditing or quality management systems is essential.
HACCP Level 3
Food Safety Level 3
Experience in supporting or running BRC audit
3 years or more experience in the Fresh Produce Sector
The candidate must have a valid driving licence.
