About the role: It’s an exciting time to be joining our Platform team as we’ve just migrated the majority of our infrastructure from a datacenter to Google Cloud Platform. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Platform Engineer to help us optimise the system, improve security, and develop solutions that utilise many of the benefits cloud engineering offers. Responsibilities: Ensure Security, reliability, and performance of all our platforms Develop standardised solutions for servers and networks Continue to automate as much of our process as possible Work with development teams to engineer system wide solutions Help to maintain the quality and standards of the engineering team Empower other teams with self service solutions Participate in an on-call rotation providing remote support Relevant experience in a majority of these concepts: In-depth knowledge of linux operating systems, focusing on Debian and RHEL/Centos Cloud service providers such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS ( knowledge of other platforms such as Azure would also be beneficial ) Infrastructure as Code best practises ( Terraform ) Configuration Management – (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Packer) Containerization – (Docker & Kubernetes) Knowledge of Continuous Integration processes – (Jenkins and GitHub Actions in particular) Scripting/programming languages (e.g. Python, Bash, Perl or Golang) Databases (primarily MySQL) Some experience of CDNs would also be beneficial (Particularly Fastly) Some experience with Microsoft operating systems Physical infrastructure exposure, e.g. physical & wireless networking, security What we believe in, and we’d like you to as well: The Platform team’s main aim is to enable the business to achieve their goals with as little friction as possible.
