Job Description
Application Form
We're looking for someone to join a new and exciting opportunity to support young people in a holistic way. We are combining our passion for supporting young people with their mental health and supporting these young people into employment. Mental health struggles should not exclude anyone from paid employment.
Our Charity
No Limits is the leading youth services charity in Southampton, supporting children and young people in the city and across Hampshire.
At No Limits, it is important our staff and volunteers reflect, represent, and have experience of the challenges faced by the children and young people we support. We are proud of and appreciate our many staff and volunteers who use their own lived experience to support the children and young people they work with.
With this in mind, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of our work and organisational culture. When recruiting, it’s important to us that we continue diversifying our staff and volunteer teams, with children and young people at the centre of everything we do.
When we talk about talent, we value the transferable skills and experiences you can bring to No Limits, whether through work (in the same or a different sector), volunteering, or personal experiences. To make sure we get the best talent on our team, we are open to and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds and sections of the community, including diverse ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodiverse individuals.
Your Role
No Limits is excited to announce a new and impactful opportunity to support young people in a holistic way. We are combining our passion for mental health support and helping young people achieve meaningful employment. We believe that mental health challenges should never be a barrier to paid employment, and we are dedicated to making this a reality for the young people we support. As an IPS Employment Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting a caseload of young people. These young people will be receiving therapeutic support from No Limits for their mental health and well-being. Your role will involve providing ongoing, individualised support to both the young person and their employer, ensuring the young person maintains stable employment during challenging times. The (IPS) model focuses on securing jobs that align with the individual’s interests and aspirations, rather than simply placing them in available positions. Your work will be centred on empowering young people to build sustainable careers, while also offering tailored support to help them overcome any obstacles they may encounter.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Case Management: Oversee a diverse and vulnerable caseload of young people, addressing the barriers mental health challenges pose to accessing employment. Provide both mental health and practical support to help young people secure and sustain employment for a minimum of six months.
* Assessment and Action Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's needs, develop individualised action plans, and regularly review these plans to support SMART goal setting and progress towards achievement.
* Employer Engagement and Support: Establish and maintain relationships with employers to facilitate job placements for young people. Provide ongoing support to both the young person and their employer to ensure sustained employment success.
* Collaboration with Therapeutic Services: Work closely with No Limits' therapeutic services to ensure young people receive integrated mental health support alongside employment assistance.
* Professional Development: Complete the recognized Individual Placement and Support (IPS) qualification to ensure adherence to best practices in employment support.
* Work Club Coordination: Plan, manage, and deliver the weekly Work Club.
* Drop-In Support: Contribute to the No Limits Advice Centre drop-in service, offering support to the team and fostering positive relationships with young people.
We are committed to making a difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with, and as such, you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the No Limits ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and those who have had experiences similar to the young people we aim to support. We are committed to creating a diverse environment where people can be their authentic selves, where their experiences and opinions are valued, and we are all open to learning from each other.
As part of our team, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and access to learning and development opportunities relevant to your role, supporting your ongoing growth.
You’ll have the essentials of:
* Build trusting and supportive relationships with children and young people.
* Respect and promote children and young people’s rights to make their own decisions and choices.
* Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* A passion for supporting young people in overcoming mental health challenges.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young people and employers.
* Experience in youth work, employment support, or mental health services and/or a minimum Level 3 (or equivalent) youth work or other relevant qualification.
* A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving and achieving young people’s goals.
* Ability to work effectively within a team, with a strong commitment to the mission and values of No Limits.
Please let us know if we can support you with any reasonable adjustments at any point prior to, during or after the selection process, such as access arrangements, flexible working, or a suitable place to pray.
