NatureScot's National Nature Reserves showcase the best of Scottish Nature, providing opportunities for people to experience, enjoy, and learn about nature.
The post holder will work with the Nature Reserve Manager at Muir of Dinnet NNR to help deliver our management plan objectives and manage our sites during a period where visitor pressure is expected to be high. This dynamic and engaging role requires a broad skill set. The post holder will assist in the day-to-day running of the NNR, as well as being the public face of the NNR at weekends.
Muir of Dinnet is a popular local visitor attraction with over 75,000 visitors a year. Many of these visitors seek face-to-face contact with staff, and the post holder will provide a public face for NatureScot to help communicate key messages such as promoting responsible access and connecting people with nature. The post holder will be expected to provide face-to-face engagement with visitors on the NNR, especially at weekends when pressure is at its highest, lead guided walks/events and group visits, and run educational visits. Additionally, the post holder will conduct a variety of ecological surveys and carry out practical habitat management tasks on the reserve, such as strimming, non-native invasive control, and other tasks required for the management of the NNR, as well as keeping the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve Facebook page up to date.
The post may occasionally involve travel to other reserves in Grampian to fulfil similar duties in support of Reserve staff there.
