Chailey clinical services is planning for the future and is looking for a specialist Rehabilitation Engineering Technician.
We are looking for a multi-skilled engineering craftsperson/ Technician that has adaptable skills to fit in within our service. You must have a flexible approach to manufacture, have good people skills and be able to turn basic ideas into a finished product with the minimum of support.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to support specialist clinics on and off site as a specialist Rehabilitation Engineering Technician supporting a multidisciplinary team. The job is primarily based within a fully equipped Rehabilitation Engineering Workshop that has, alongside traditional machinery, the latest technology such as 3D scanning, 3D printing and CNC capability. You, along with three other Technicians, will be required to support a team of Rehabilitation Engineers and Clinical scientists carrying out repairs, adjustments, and modifications to specialist mobility equipment used by disabled children and young adults.
Although the main bulk of this work is manufacturing and assembly of custom-made wheelchair seating, there will be the requirement to adapt your skills to other custom-made postural devices, such as lying supports, standers, and trikes. Although we are primarily looking for an experienced technician, we would consider someone that met the minimum specification, had the right attitude but has less formal engineering experience, who is keen to develop their engineering skills further in a new field.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* HNC in relevant engineering subject (C) OR City & Guilds + 5 years in-depth experience of mechanical engineering manufacturing processes to demonstrate a similar level of understanding and experience.
Experience
* Demonstrate skill and expertise in light mechanical engineering techniques and processes.
* Confident with main workshop machinery tools such as lathes, milling machines, band saws, and hand tools.
* Competent in the use of CAD drawing packages.
* Experience of problem-solving using mechanical engineering techniques.
* Understanding of 3D scanning and 3D printing.
* Understanding of CNC machining.
* Knowledge/understanding of the importance of quality standards and procedures.
Other
* Ability to use IT software such as Microsoft Office.
* Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the role.
* A current valid driving licence.
