About the Role
7. As a Research Technology Specialist within Oxford’s Research Support Services Team, the post-holder will help provide a source of technical consultancy, support and expertise to researchers across the University. You will need to engage in dialogue with researchers with varying levels of technical knowledge in the application of IT to their research and the management of their research data.
8. We are a small team that supports a number of services for the University’s research community (including Research File Service, Electronic Lab Notebooks, DigiSafe), and makes a significant contribution to supporting research data management across all disciplinary areas. The team is also actively contributing to several digital transformation initiatives within the research programme.
9. The postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to supporting these services while also reviewing the processes involved in research data collection, management, and archiving within their specific research area. This will help inform updates to the team's knowledge and improve future support.
About You
10. To be successful in this varied and interesting role, you will ideally have substantial practical research experience and enjoy using this experience in new areas for problem solving.
11. You will have great communication skills (written and verbal) and be confident in the ability to communicate with the team, researchers, and academic staff.
12. You will also have a positive attitude and be keen to use your research experience to help improve research data management and infrastructure in the University.
13. The skillset required lends itself to a part-time secondment from within the research software engineering or post-doctoral research communities. The secondment offers the possibility of a development opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a broad-based research support role, especially in connection with the University’s research data management services.
