Pay Rate: AWR Rates (MPS Pay Scale for Qualified Teachers)
Key Responsibilities
As the Design and Technology Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring creativity and developing practical skills in students. Your duties will include:
Planning and Delivery: Create and deliver engaging lessons that align with the national curriculum, encouraging students to think critically, work collaboratively, and approach problems creatively.
Marking and Assessment: Conduct regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to curriculum planning, incorporating a variety of practical and theoretical lessons across the Design and Technology spectrum, including product design, engineering, textiles, and food technology (depending on expertise).
Classroom Management: Establish a positive classroom environment that supports learning and encourages excellent student behaviour in line with the school’s outstanding culture.
Parental Engagement: Participate in parent-teacher evenings to provide updates on student progress, learning goals, and areas for development.
Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom, adhering to school and regulatory safety standards, particularly within practical workshop settings.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning and collaboration with colleagues to enhance instructional techniques and curriculum offerings.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Experience: Previous experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level is preferred.
Skills: Strong classroom management skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for fostering a creative, hands-on learning environment.
