LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL (SENIOR CIVIL SERVICE GRADE 5) OFFICE OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL (OLC), THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE

Would you like to write the law of Northern Ireland? The main purpose of the role as Legislative Counsel in OLC is to draft primary legislation for Northern Ireland in the form of Bills designed to become Acts of the Assembly.
The job of drafting legislation in OLC is exciting, challenging and rewarding, and presents a unique opportunity to work at a senior level at the very heart of governmental operations in Northern Ireland.
Up to 3 posts are currently available. Secondment of one or more successful candidates from their current employers may be considered.
SALARY: £79,237 - £88,908 (under review) plus recruitment and retention allowance in the range of £20,000 to £30,000.
LOCATION: OLC is housed in Parliament Buildings, Belfast. However, OLC accommodates a hybrid style of working which blends working at home with working in the office for Legislative Counsel who live in Northern Ireland. A substantial degree of remote working is allowed by OLC for Legislative Counsel who live in a neighbouring jurisdiction, although individuals are expected to commute to the office from time to time as business needs require.
