Job Title: Procurement Manager
Location: Melmerby, North Yorkshire, UK
Contract and Shift details: Permanent, Minimum of 3 days per week office based. (to be discussed at interview stage)

A typical day as our Procurement Manager will involve:
* Managing pricing cycles, supplier negotiations, and contracts.
* Managing Commodity Market volatility, for Grains, Soya and other ingredients, securing supply and making optimal commercial buying decisions.
* Advising market pricing to Strategic customers.
* Ensuring raw material availability for Neonate Animal Feed Mill and optimising inventory management systems.
* Driving cost savings while maintaining quality and service standards.
* Collaborating with global teams in Poland, Denmark, and Spain to align procurement strategies.
You will also be involved in developing our team, supporting, and transitioning promising talent, and transitioning our procurement function from reactive operations to strategic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the procurement process for raw materials, additives, packaging, and contract manufacturing.
* Analyse domestic and global supply markets and Commodity markets to identify competitive sources and mitigate risks.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers using TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) principles.
* Implement stock management best practices and optimise supplier performance.
* Attain cost reduction in a sustainable and ethical manner.
* Develop KPIs and dashboards for strategic reporting to senior leadership.
* Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
* Mentor and support team members, encouraging their growth and development.
About you:
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years in a procurement and raw material planning environment, with solid supplier management and category experience.
* Skilled Commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and IT proficiency (Excel, Outlook, Word).
* Leadership qualities with the ability to manage priorities and build cross-functional relationships.
* Proven history in implementing strategic procurement and delivering measurable results.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Degree or CIPS qualification.
* Experience in commodity markets and e-sourcing tools.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and data-driven decision-making.
