The Opportunity
As a Senior Engineering Director, you will oversee the development of our heat batteries utilising advanced phase change materials, manufactured by our team on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
This role requires technical leadership, hands-on management, mentoring, inspiring and developing your team while engaging confidently with senior stakeholders and adapting to new challenges with ease.
Key areas of accountability:
* Lead engineering projects: Take ownership of company-wide initiatives, overseeing execution and delivery from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
* Product management and compliance: Oversee the management of the product throughout its lifecycle, ensuring all products meet industry standards, compliance requirements and regulatory guidelines.
* Resource management: Coordinate and allocate resources effectively, balancing business demands and team capacity, ensuring optimal resource utilisation and timely project delivery.
* Team leadership and development: Manage, mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
* Stakeholder engagement: Serve as the point of contact for stakeholders, translating technical challenges into commercial solutions and ensuring engineering projects align with overall business objectives.
* Hands-on technical leadership: Provide guidance on mechanical, electrical, product and project engineering matters, demonstrating a deep understanding of engineering principles and applying this knowledge to solve real-world problems.
* Adaptability to change: Respond proactively to shifting priorities and business needs, ensuring the engineering team remains flexible and focused in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
A minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering, with roles spanning mechanical, electrical, product, innovation, design and/or HVAC functions.
Previous product lifecycle management is essential, with experience in electrical and/or HVAC, household domestic appliances and electrical whitegoods desirable.
Experience in manufacturing, engineering and/or electrical environments is crucial for success in this role.
Salary range: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
