Newton Close is part of a supported living cluster that includes another site in Chatham. This cluster is overseen by an experienced and dedicated manager from The Kent Autistic Trust (KAT). To ensure continuity and consistency in the quality of care, several residential staff members who have previously supported our tenants have transitioned to this new development.
As we welcome new tenants, we are also looking to expand our team. This is an exciting opportunity for compassionate and skilled individuals to join us in providing exceptional care and support to our tenants.
About the Role: Waking Night Support Worker
Waking Night Support workers help the people we support to feel safe and secure throughout the night. Delivering exceptional care and individualized support ensures that our residents live as independently and safely as possible. In addition, the responsibilities of the role are to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the service and carry out necessary utility checks. This is a personally rewarding role where you can build on your skills and experience. Having a background in supporting people with Autism in a previous role within a social care environment is desirable, although is not essential.
What is essential is that you understand that autism can be complex and challenging and that each person we support is unique.
Tasks / Responsibilities of a Waking Night Support Worker (may include but are not limited to):
1. Routine safety checks on individuals and their environment
2. Ensure the service is safe and secure
3. Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
4. Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
5. Ensuring written records are correctly maintained
6. Will include lone working
7. Working with individuals who can display stressed behaviors - hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
8. Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
9. Understanding each individual's abilities and support needs
10. Promoting independence and choice
11. Promoting equality, diversity & inclusion
12. Uphold the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of all individuals
13. To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
14. A commitment to continuous personal development and learning.
