As a Cleaning Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the daily cleaning operations. This is a hands-on role based at one of the two Hopwood Hall campuses. Your primary objective is to ensure that cleaning tasks are completed efficiently, according to established standards and in a timely manner. You will supervise cleaning staff, coordinate schedules and maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises. Key Responsibilities To provide excellent customer service to staff, learners and visitors. Supervise and manage the daily cleaning operations, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance. Foster a positive and efficient working environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among cleaning staff. Support your team members to meet the cleaning specification and standards expected of the service, cover during absence periods to help create a strong team ethic. Inspect designated areas regularly to ensure cleaning standards are met and maintained, addressing any deficiencies promptly. Keep accurate records of cleaning activities, including schedules, inspections, and inventory levels. Keep an accurate record of staff training. Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure efficient and thorough cleaning of all areas. Order and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained. Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures related to cleaning operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Familiarise yourself with all risk assessments relevant to the post and safe operating instructions for equipment. Undertake visual inspections of machinery and equipment prior to use daily, machinery and adhere to the risk assessment procedure of the organisation. Comply with regulations and policies in relation to health and safety, the safe operation and use of cleaning equipment and the safe use of cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations and manufacturer's instructions. Report hazards to the Operations Manager and Health and Safety Officer. Handle and resolve any issues or complaints related to cleaning services in a timely and professional manner to ensure excellent customer service. Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies and procedures, including attendance, punctuality, and behaviour standards. Promote the college’s Sustainability policy. Ensure continuous professional development, improvement of skills and professional knowledge and stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new cleaning technologies to continually improve cleaning processes and efficiency. Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as required. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications Educated to a good GCSE level or equivalent standard. NVQ Level 2 Cleaning and Support Services Skills or equivalent. Preferably a Health & Safety qualification. Experience Two years experience as a Cleaner and previous experience of managing or working closely with a team. Occupational competence. Knowledge of cleaning processes and chemicals. Familiarity with use of toxic materials. IT Skills Basic Microsoft Office skills.
