Job Purpose:
As Director of Youth Services, you will have responsibility for service delivery to our residents and any other young people who are our clients to enable them to belong, contribute and thrive. You will be responsible for working with the Senior Leadership Team to determine strategic direction for Housing and Youth Services.
You will ensure that our Housing and Youth Services are managed as effectively as possible so that we:
* Offer the best possible environment as a home to our young people
* Safeguard resident safety
* Maintain our properties in the best possible state of repair
* Minimise anti-social behaviour disturbances
* Maximise organisational income through effective management of rental income
You will also ensure that our service is as inspirational as it can be for young people. You will lead a staff team to deliver the best possible supported housing service to young people in Southampton, Basingstoke and IOW. You will ensure that:
* Our service delivery reflects best practice
* Our staff team are trained to the highest possible standard so that they are effective in working with all young people, and particularly with young people who might need additional support due to vulnerabilities
* We are responsive to our young people’s emotional needs and that our service delivery is psychologically informed
* Our team offer the best possible opportunity to our residents and other service users to identify, pursue and achieve goals so that we support all our young people to belong, contribute and thrive.
Experience required:
* Substantial senior management level experience gained in a similar role and in a similar environment
* Practical experience of working with and supporting vulnerable groups
* Experience of managing challenging behavior and demonstrates knowledge of trauma informed practices
* Experience of senior level strategic planning
* Demonstrable experience of delivering positive service and organisational development strategies, and leading effective organisational change
* Experience of leading teams across different geographical locations
* Experience of partnership working with demonstrable results
* In depth knowledge and understanding of housing management best practice and legislation
* Detailed understanding of safeguarding best practice and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements
* Experience in financial management, monitoring and interpreting financial information
Practical & Intellectual Skills:
* Strong, effective leadership skills demonstrated at a strategic level
* Awareness and understanding of the concepts of ‘Psychologically Informed Environments’
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* The ability to work in a small, fast paced team
* The ability to effectively manage competing priorities
* Strong IT skills
