We are looking for newly qualified or experienced Nurses and ODPs to join our PACU team. An opportunity for nurses and ODPs who are committed to excellence, enjoy working together within the team, and are positively driven to face the future in the NHS.
We are an elective hub that provides care to different specialties such as Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Urology.
The post holder will be part of the multi-disciplinary team in delivering post-surgery/procedure and post-anaesthesia care to patients in the Recovery area. The Recovery Practitioner will practice a high standard of care, participating in all activities in the department and working flexibly alongside team members to meet the service needs of the unit.
To practice according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2018), taking responsibility for providing high standard and holistic individualised care to each patient or a defined group of patients. To work within professional limitations and boundaries, escalating issues or difficulties to the nurse in charge and/or Recovery Lead Practitioner if unable to resolve within own capability/capacity.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of post-operative and post-anaesthesia care needs of patients after surgery.
2. Work collaboratively as part of the team to deliver and meet the care needs of patients in the Recovery area.
3. Participate in nursing care activities of the team within the area of work responsibility.
4. Assist in the organisation and work planning of the PACU Senior Sister/Team Leader as required.
5. Maintain and contribute to high quality standard of care delivery, ensuring professional practice is evidence-based.
6. Support the integration and implementation of clinical governance in all aspects of patient care and service delivery.
7. Contribute to the continuing professional development of students/learners, junior members of staff, and colleagues.
