Role Summary
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Lead role is responsible for promoting compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations at Commercial sites within the Asia and Pacific (APAC) and Africa and Middle East (AFME) regions. Reporting directly to the Commercial and Hubs Environment, Health and Safety Lead, the APAC and AFME Environment, Health and Safety Lead will foster a culture of safety and sustainability by collaborating with team members, Country Managers, and Environment, Health and Safety Coordinators to develop and implement EHS programmes to create a cohesive safety culture to promote unified commitment from all levels of the organisation.
Role Responsibilities
1. Lead a team of EHS professionals located at multiple locations across APAC and AFME regions to ensure that all Global Workplace Experience supported operations and locations have compliant environment, health and safety programs.
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, customers, vendors, contractors, and consultants, to foster a culture of safety and resilience across the APAC and AFME regions.
3. Provide guidance and mentorship to Country Managers to ensure accountability for EHS and business resilience is understood and implemented.
4. Implement Pfizer environmental, health and safety standards to create policies, procedures, and programs to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
5. Support the Global Workplace Experience environmental, health and safety governance structure, through attendance at regular meetings, communicating key information and documenting outcomes.
6. Provide independent assessments of environmental, health and safety performance and conduct reviews to ensure environmental, health and safety risks at APAC and AFME sites are identified, evaluated, and effectively managed in compliance with regulatory and Pfizer environmental, health and safety management system requirements.
7. Monitor and evaluate environmental, health and safety performance and compliance of operations, locations, and business lines in the APAC and AFME regions using audits, inspections, metrics, and feedback.
8. Ensure appropriate environmental, health and safety and business resilience training is delivered to APAC and AFME Commercial employees and contractors.
9. Support Pfizer Net Zero goals and Global Workplace Experience Sustainability and Wellbeing strategy, and in partnership with the Global Workplace Experience Environment Advisor ensure Sustainability Master Plans are developed and managed where applicable in APAC and AFME offices.
10. Support development and maintenance of emergency response plans and associated training, to ensure colleagues and contractors are prepared for emergency situations.
11. Ensure incidents and near-misses are reported, root causes identified, and corrective and preventative actions implemented, and where applicable lead the investigation process.
12. Provide audit lifecycle support to sites (including maintaining audit readiness across APAC and AFME).
13. Ensure that annual environmental, health and safety management systems reviews are undertaken at local sites in the APAC and AFME region and contribute to the wider Global Workplace Experience annual environmental, health and safety management system review.
14. Contribute to data analysis and review, including preparation of performance reports to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
Must-Have
1. Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field.
2. A minimum of seven years of experience as an EHS professional in an environmental, health and safety role.
3. Ability to identify relevant environment, health and safety legislation and interpret requirements across differing APAC and AFME markets.
4. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing environment, health and safety programs across international markets.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Experience in developing and implementing emergency response procedures and overseeing incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Nice-to-Have
1. NEBOSH Level 6 international diploma for Occupational and Safety Management.
2. Experience working across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones.
3. Experience with environment, health and safety management systems.
4. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
5. Working knowledge of United Nations Net Zero commitments and sustainability and wellbeing design principles (including Leadership in Energy and Environment Design - LEED).
6. Professional membership of an internationally recognized environment, health and safety body.
