Job overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity on the Children's Ward, Furness General Hospital for a substantive clinical leader position.
The Children’s Ward is a busy mixed speciality unit providing care for a wide range of conditions. It compromises a 14 bed inpatient ward, 8 bed day care unit, and a 4 bed assessment unit.
Main duties of the job
* Have continuing responsibility for the delivery of care needs and maintenance of clinical standards rotating through CYP services for Inpatients, Day Care and Assessment Unit
* Provide effective leadership and support to all grades of staff; planning and directing activities to provide optimal standards of care
* Ensure that the ward/department is clean and provides a safe environment for children, parents and staff
* Deputise for Senior Nurses when required

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered Children’s Nurse
* Post basic qualification relevant to children’s nursing
* Teaching and assessing qualification
* 1st degree or willingness to undertake same
Experience
* Recent experience at senior staff nurse level within children’s nursing
* Evidence of clinical competence in a wide range of paediatric nursing skills
* Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards
* Evidence of teaching and developing staff
* Recent leadership development or willingness to undertake course
Skills
* Paediatric Life Support Skills
* IT skills including word processing, email and internet
* Advanced Paediatric Life support skills
