GBR Recruitment Ltd are proud to be working exclusively with a well-established progressive chilled food manufacturing business in the North East, recruiting for a Low & High Risk experienced Technical Manager to lead the operation forward from a Technical & Quality perspective.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a time-served Technical Management professional to take the next step in their career. You will be responsible for being the technical lead for food safety and legal compliance, which will entail leading the technical department, driving quality standards, and playing a key role in leading/liaising with low risk and high care departments.
Responsibilities:
1. Drive the food safety and quality agenda throughout the operation.
2. Ensure the site always maintains the required BRC standards.
3. Arrange regular HACCP team meetings and ensure that the HACCP plan is reviewed and amended for new products (NPD/NPI), ingredients, and processes.
4. Ensure all CCPs are understood, verified, and documentation is audited.
5. Manage and review HACCP prerequisites.
6. Manage an integrated Pest Control policy with the external provider.
7. Ensure that SOPs/cleaning procedures are correct and regularly reviewed.
8. Coach, mentor, and develop the existing technical and quality team through regular development plans and performance reviews.
9. Support document control systems by drafting required documents.
10. Ensure the management team is kept informed of scientific developments, industry codes of practice, new risks to authenticity of raw materials, and all relevant legislation.
11. Ensure certificates of analysis are received for all relevant products and non-conformances reported.
12. Lead regular manufacturing audits (GMP) to ensure product quality.
Your Attributes:
1. Highly experienced in factory and customer-facing technical management roles within the food processing industry.
2. Experienced in chilled food manufacturing operations.
3. Lead Auditor trained, with HACCP L4 and Food Safety L4 qualifications.
4. Understanding of microbiology within the high-risk sector is preferred (not essential).
5. Must have previously led both internal and external audits.
6. Experienced in setting technical strategies and operational agendas.
7. Must have strong experience in both people and process management.
This role is working from 06:30am (Job & Finish, shifts can end as early as 1pm or as late as 6pm, depending on order well).
This position is commutable from: Billingham, Teesside, Middlesborough, Stockton on Tees, Thornaby, Hartlepool, Redcar, Sedgefield, Peterlee, Northallerton, Thirsk, Ripon, Newcastle, Sunderland, Consett, Durham, Hartlepool, Darlington & Newton Aycliffe.
