Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor - Specialising in Fire & DSEAR
Location: Leonardo Helicopters, Yeovil
Salary: Up to £50,000
As the Health and Safety Advisor specialising in Fire & DSEAR for the Leonardo Helicopters contract at Sodexo, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment. Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, you will provide expert advice on health and safety, fire management, and DSEAR compliance, while promoting a strong fire safety culture across the estate.
In this role, you will oversee Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), support project work, and ensure that all safety measures are effectively implemented. Your proactive approach will be key in maintaining the LHUK Fire Safety strategy and fostering positive relationships with the Fire and Rescue Services. What you’ll do:
• Provide technical fire safety management advice to the Client (Leonardo Helicopters), Sodexo management, and consultants at all levels.
• Review, interpret, and update Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and DSEAR action plans.
• Prepare FRAs for refurbishment projects and new buildings, ensuring compliance with legislation.
• Coordinate the implementation of control measures and track progress to ensure safety during assessments conducted by third-party specialists.
• Conduct investigations to determine root causes of incidents and provide solutions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation and regulations, acting as the primary contact for petroleum licensing activities.
• Support fire insurance visits and consultations while establishing strong relationships with fire services.
What you bring:
• Professional certifications in Fire Risk Assessment, including NEBOSH Fire Certificate and NEBOSH General Certificate.
• ABBE Level 3 certificate in Fire Risk Management, with a background in Fire Safety Management.
• Experience in DSEAR/ATEX Risk Assessments and conducting Fire Risk Assessments and inspections.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant fire safety legislation and regulations, along with experience in Hazardous Area Classification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach to working, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing business performance and safety.
