Dartmouth Partners is working with a leading LSE listed Conventional Energy company who are seeking a commercially astute and analytically sharp Senior Commercial Analyst to join their high performing team in London.
The Senior Commercial Analyst will provide primary support to Commercial Team with efficient, pro-active and commercially robust analytical support, modelling, evaluation and financial analysis for commercial, business development and M&A activities. Assisting with valuations of business opportunities and commercial contracts, including support with negotiations.
You would also provide support to the Financial Planning Team with the maintenance, improvement and running of intricate financial models that are fundamental for scenario planning, including economic valuation and liquidity forecasts, which aid strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Business Development
* Market trend and intelligence, competitor analysis, risk assessments and other commercial analytical research and reporting.
* Commercial support to asset team for capital investments and budgets.
* Support screening, evaluation and recommendations for new business opportunities.
* Commercial negotiations support.
* Responsible for managing datarooms.
* Review and comment on due diligence materials.
* Support delivery of transactions, manage internal and external resources in a timely manner to ensure transaction milestones are met.
* Liaise with the technical and finance teams internally and legal counsel, consultants and advisers externally to execute the transaction.
* Support post-closing integration.
Modelling
* Maintain economic oil and gas upstream models in line with requirements
* Develop and maintain merger/acquisition models (financial effects/accretion/dilution analysis) including valuations, cash flows, etc.
* Collect input material and checking data integrity.
* Ensuring consistency and accuracy of modelling results.
* Obtain feedback from team to ensure the functionality and relevance of models and presentations.
* Provide economic modelling support for contract negotiations.
* Audit and comment on third party models.
Other
* Preparation of briefing notes, presentations and other papers for internal and external meetings.
Qualifications & Experiences
* A good science, mathematics, or finance focused degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. engineering, finance, economics, business administration, data science).
* 5-10 years of experience in oil & gas upstream focused on commercial, corporate planning or strategy with exposure to, preferably with reasonable technical knowledge.
* Strong analytical and modelling skills.
* Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
Preferred skills:
* Strong experience in data analytics and modelling
* Proficiency in using Microsoft power platform suite of tools
* Excel power stack (power query and power pivot)
* M Code and DAX to build advanced models with enhanced data analysis and manipulation capabilities
