The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a crucial role in driving the company’s growth within the seafood industry by identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and ensuring long-term success in a competitive marketplace. The BDM will work closely with internal teams and key stakeholders to identify trends, and market needs, and create tailored business strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Expansion:
* Identify and target new business opportunities across various markets including retail, wholesale, and food service.
* Develop and execute strategies for entering new markets and expanding the company's footprint in existing markets.
* Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor activity to identify strategic growth opportunities.
Client Relationship Management:
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, and customers.
* Engage with potential and existing clients to understand their needs and offer customized seafood solutions.
* Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with new and existing clients.
Sales and Revenue Generation:
* Lead sales efforts to achieve revenue growth targets in assigned territories or market segments.
* Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams to create compelling sales presentations, proposals, and promotional campaigns.
* Identify and manage key accounts, ensuring their satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
Strategic Planning & Reporting:
* Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the company’s objectives and growth goals.
* Track industry trends and competitor activities to inform business strategies.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
* Work closely with operations, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure product offerings meet customer needs and market demands.
* Provide market feedback and insights to product development and innovation teams for new product introductions.
Sustainability and Compliance:
* Stay informed on sustainability practices within the seafood industry and promote the company’s commitment to responsible sourcing.
* Ensure that all business development activities comply with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or a related field.
* Familiarity in the Japanese markets and speaking Japanese is advantageous.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales, ideally within the seafood or food industry.
* Strong understanding of the seafood supply chain, market trends, and customer needs.
* Proven track record of driving business growth and achieving sales targets.
* Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulatory requirements in the seafood industry is a plus.
* Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for the seafood industry.
