Role Overview: Exciting opportunity for an articulate, motivated Trainee OR Assistant Estimator to join their dynamic team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a career in construction estimating, working closely with senior estimators to support the bidding process and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects. Key Responsibilities: Quantity Take-Offs: Perform detailed measurements and calculations from project drawings to determine the quantities of materials required. Subcontractor Quotes: Contact and solicit quotes from subcontractors for various project elements, ensuring accurate communication of the scope of work. Cost Analysis: Research and compile cost data for materials, labour, and equipment based on market trends and project specifications. Data Entry: Input gathered information into estimating software, including quantities, pricing, and other relevant details. Site Visits: Attend pre-bid site visits to assess project conditions and potential challenges. Tender Document Review: Analyse tender documents to understand project requirements and identify potential risks. Report Generation: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and summaries for review by senior surveyors & estimators. Administrative Support: Manage project files, maintain estimating databases, and handle other administrative tasks related to the estimating process. Required Skills: Technical Skills: Understanding of construction methods, blueprints, and estimating software. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, analyse cost breakdowns, and identify potential cost variations. Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy when performing calculations and data entry. Communication Skills: Effective communication with subcontractors, engineers, and other internal stakeholders. Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively. Education and Experience: Batchelors’ or Masters’ degree qualification relevant to construction/ or related training is preferred.
