The University of Aberdeen is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Deputy Security Supervisor within the Estates and Facilities Directorate to assist in the delivery of a 24/7 security service across the university buildings and campuses.
Duties will be based on a 24/7 365 shift working pattern, further details of which can be supplied if required. As well as performing the core duties of a Security Officer, the Deputy Security Supervisor supports the Security Supervisor on a daily basis and deputises for them during periods of leave and absence. When deputising this will entail managing and supervising a team of 7 other Security Officers and being responsible for ensuring the day to day running of the 24/7 Security Control Room. It will also include the delivery of a comprehensive and effective security service across the university campuses, including pro-active foot patrols both externally and internally, alarm monitoring and related responses across a number of systems, supporting School and Directorate staff as required, and providing a modern customer focussed service to all staff, students and visitors to the University. When deputising for their Supervisor, the post holder will be responsible for attending and taking operational control of key incidents and emergencies without delay, and as such the post holder must hold a full driving licence so as to be able to drive.
The successful candidate will be provided with a uniform and protective clothing.
Applicants must have good written and oral communication skills, proven front line customer service skills, be educated to standard grade level or equivalent, have experience in managing or supervising a team and be competent in a number of basic IT software platforms.
Salary will be on the appropriate point on the Grade 4 scale (£26,642 per annum - £30,505 per annum).
