Job Description We are looking for a Trackside IT Technician to join the team to take responsibility for designing, implementing, supporting, and managing IT Services for the Academy Test Team, including attending events trackside. You will deliver key services to the part of Williams that operates outside of the F1 cost-cap. This role involves troubleshooting, problem resolution, and proactive maintenance across a range of IT systems and infrastructure. The Trackside IT Technician will ensure systems are robust, highly available and delivered to an exceptional standard, providing the resources; expertise, processes and systems necessary to provide high quality, repeatable, effective Motorsport IT Services. This role includes global travel and weekend event attendance as part of the core duties of the role. Main duties: Design, implement and proactively project manage best in class IT infrastructure technology Administer the suite of virtual cluster hardware, network and software pertaining to our Trackside Academy IT deployment Support Trackside users to ensure they can best utilise our Trackside Academy IT services Provide feedback on Trackside IT incidents and problems to the Race Operations Manager in a timely manner Design and deploy automations to continuously improve capability and capacity Recommend and manage processes and procedural improvements to Trackside Academy IT Services Work collaboratively with partners and colleagues across the organisation to deliver world class Trackside Academy IT Services Ensure all Trackside Academy IT systems are documented and documentation is kept up to date. Establish and build on external third-party vendor relationships Participate in race pit stop training and associated fitness programs Skills and experience required: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Previous proven experience working within a similar role within IT Demonstrated out of the box approach and readiness to resolve technology challenges quickly A collaborative and curious approach to technical problem-solving A strong desire to build impactful solutions for the Trackside team Ability to work with a wide range of groups and disciplines seamlessly Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving requirements Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and succinctly in a fast-paced, high-pressure trackside environment Strong understanding of: Active Directory & M365 Windows and Linux based server administration Cloud Architecture/Engineering (Preferably both AWS and Azure) Virtualisation/Containerisation Routing/Switching/Firewalling/Wireless (Cisco, CATO and Palo Alto) Monitoring & Automation (Ansible and Power Automate) Voice & Video Conferencing (VoIP) Application Performance Management (APM) Network Performance Management (NPM)
