Terminal Technician (Mechanical Static Equipment) - Grain LNG, Isle of Grain, Kent
As a Terminal Technician (Mechanical Static Equipment), you'll ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of Grain LNG’s Mechanical assets through the efficient maintenance and operation of those assets. You'll also support and provide assistance in ensuring the effective day-to-day utilisation of resources and prioritisation of work within the tasks and projects allocated. This operation and maintenance allows the terminal to meet its requirements under the COMAH regulation.
You'll join an expanding terminal, which is of strategic national importance to UK energy infrastructure and security of supply. We're the largest Liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Europe and eighth largest in the world by tank capacity with a site that spans over 600 acres in total.
Key accountabilities
* Undertake a range of duties on high pressure, cryogenic plant and equipment as required including maintenance, plant operation, site delivery of projects, commissioning, complex fault investigation, to ensure optimum efficiency, cost effectiveness, and safety as appropriate.
* Monitor contractors within their discipline or plant area ensuring the service they provide is delivered safely, on time, within agreed budgets and to appropriate levels of performance.
* Provide technical standby cover by means of rota and ensure emergency response readiness is in place to meet the requirement of EIMS.
* Be proactive in all aspects of the work programme or site operation communicating with the LNG Terminal Engineers and Assistant Engineers to enable the work programme or site operation to stay on track and be updated to maintain targets as necessary.
* Keep up to date with all site maintenance and operational records of all work activities and operations undertaken.
* Be a part of and support the construction and commissioning of new assets within the terminal identifying the requirement to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment as well as participating in the design of minor modifications, and the provision of technical support.
* Contribute to the development, review and update of emergency, security, safety, operational and environmental plans and procedures to ensure safe and cost-effective operation of plant and equipment.
About you

* A wide range of practical ability, knowledge and understanding of Mechanical process equipment including valves, actuators, pipework, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, hydraulic systems.
* In-depth knowledge of safety/pressure Relief Valves and other protective devices.
* Experience of installation and maintenance of certified mechanical equipment and pipework in hazardous areas.
* The ability to perform fault analysis to determine failure mechanisms.
* Comprehensive knowledge and experience of statutory regulations that include PSSR, LOLER, PUWER and ATEX.
* Knowledge and expertise in rigging and slinging practices.
* The ability to create and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Effective planning, resource management, communication and supervisory skills to achieve efficient completion of tasks.
* Efficiency at managing contractors and communicating with suppliers.
* Basic Report writing and document management and familiarity in using Microsoft Office.
* HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (or willingness to work towards this, with our support), NEBOSH or IOSH.

* A competitive salary of £41,561– £46,450– dependent on capability.

* Shift allowance of 13.5%.
* Standby allowance of £432 per week of cover. This would be approximately £5,616 per annum – as you can expect to be on-call for around 13 weeks of the year.
