The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), based at Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice.
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Trial Managers to join the existing team. The post sits within the non-cancer group in the area of respiratory. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU which has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).
The Senior Trial Manager (Portfolio Lead) will be responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of respiratory trials ensuring they are delivered according to required standards, time and budget. These are senior posts within the CTU with advisory, leadership and line management responsibilities. They will be required to work with multiple stakeholders so must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and be a good leader and line manager.
The successful candidates will have experience of trial coordination and/or management gained through working on interventional clinical trials, including mixed methods and conducting trials in either secondary or primary care or other research naïve environments. They should have excellent knowledge of GCP and governance relating to trials and other well designed studies.
The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and other benefits. The post is offered on a one year fixed term contract in the first instance with the possibility of an extension.
The CTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the South Central Research Design Service, Primary Care infrastructure, Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Clinical Research Facility and strong NHS R&D Management.
